| Breaking News |  | Friday, August 1st, 2008: Cincinnati's Encarnacion Bags NL Batting Award Nobody was better with the bat in July! Edwin Encarnacion caught everyone's attention with some hot hitting and today he came away with the Batter of the Month award.
Cincinnati's third baseman put together a solid month with a .414 batting average, 7 home runs, 24 RBIs and 23 runs scored.
This year Encarnacion is hitting .323, produced 87 RBIs and 22 home runs, scored 59 times and gotten on base at a .388 rate. |  | Monday, July 7th, 2008: Hopper Chosen #1 Player Today the National League announced the Player of the Week Award. This week's honoree is Cincinnati center fielder Norris Hopper. When he steps into the batter's box, it's usually bad news for pitchers.
For the week he batted .500 (12-24) with 1 home run and 5 RBIs.
Presently Hopper is batting .364 with 125 hits and 4 home runs. He has knocked in 28 runs and scored 67 times. |  | Friday, July 4th, 2008: Reds Hopper Smacks 5 Hits! It was a parade of hits for Norris Hopper of the Cincinnati Reds...one right after another...a total of 5 for the day. He ravaged the Cleveland Indians for 5 hits in his 6 at-bats and propelled the Reds to a 13-4 victory.
"Hopper was really good and we were really bad," groaned the Indians manager. "Next time he's that hot, we'll just walk him."
N. Hopper singled in the 1st, hit an RBI single in the 2nd, singled in the 3rd, tripled in the 6th, hit a three-run home run off A. Fultz in the 7th and struck out in the 8th.
So far in 2008 Hopper is hitting .365 with 4 home runs, 28 RBIs and 66 runs scored.
