Friday, August 8th, 2008: 5-Hits Blitz by Lowell
The Red Sox whipped the Rays 17-0 at Fenway Park II and Mike Lowell had a big hand in the win. The Red Sox third baseman came to the plate 6 times and collected 5 hits. It was a good day for Lowell and a tough day for Tampa Bay.

"I just go up there and whale away and hope it hits the barrel of the bat," he said. "There really isn't any plan."

Plan or not, Lowell delivered today -- 5-6 is outstanding in any league.

M. Lowell singled in the 2nd, singled in the 3rd, struck out in the 4th, singled in the 6th, singled in the 8th and singled in the 9th.

This season Lowell has 13 home runs and a .272 batting average.
Friday, August 8th, 2008: Red Sox Beckett Blanks Rays
Boston's Josh Beckett brought his "A game" to the park, shutting down and shutting out the Tampa Bay Rays 17-0. He racked up 8 strikeouts, surrendered 1 hit and issued no walks on his way to the victory.

This season Beckett has a 11-4 record with a 3.67 ERA in 23 starts.
Tuesday, August 5th, 2008: Cleveland Blanked by Red Sox
Curt Schilling of the Boston Red Sox shut out the Cleveland Indians 5-0, held them to 5 hits with no walks and 10 strikeouts. Schilling said, "I could throw any pitch on any count."

The Cleveland skipper called his game a jewel, saying, "The way he was pitching, it would have been tough for anyone to beat him."

To date this season Schilling is 9-6 with 22 starts and an ERA of 3.52 with 101 strikeouts in 151 innings.
