| Breaking News | | Friday, August 15th, 2008: Beltre Bashes 5 Base Hits Adrian Beltre exploded for a barrage of base hits today at Safeco Field. The Seattle third baseman had a field day in the 17-14 triumph over the Texas Rangers, finishing up with a 5-7 day and a spot in the league record book.
"My hitting philosophy is pretty simple," he said. "I focus on just seeing the ball and I try to get a good pitch."
Well, Beltre must have focused at least 5 times and apparently got some good pitches, too. It was one of his best days ever with the bat.
A. Beltre doubled in the 2nd, singled in the 4th, singled in the 6th, singled in the 6th, grounded out in the 7th, struck out in the 10th and hit an RBI single in the 11th.
Hitting .265 to date, Beltre has 9 home runs and 54 RBIs. He has played in 115 games. | | Saturday, July 5th, 2008: Bourn Rips Texas for 5 Hits "Ever since I picked up my first bat my coaches were always saying to keep your eye on the ball, don't overswing... just make contact and ya never know what'll happen," Houston's Michael Bourn told reporters after the game. "That's all I did today. I made contact and it turned out well."
It definitely turn out well for Bourn today as he collected 5 hits in 6 at-bats against Texas. It turned out well for his team, too, as the Astros knocked off the Rangers 7-4 at Minute Maid Park.
M. Bourn grounded out in the 1st, hit a solo-shot off K. Loe in the 3rd, singled in the 5th, doubled in the 7th, singled in the 9th and singled in the 11th.
Bourn is currently hitting at a .276 pace with 8 home runs, 29 RBIs and has scored 46 times. | | Thursday, July 3rd, 2008: Hamilton Put on Shelf, Listed DTD Is Josh Hamilton going to tough it out and play through an injury? We'll get the chance to find out in the next 1-2 weeks as the outstanding Texas right fielder attempts to shrug off a sprained ankle he sustained running the bases against the San Francisco Giants. Whether the management lets him play or handles him with kid gloves will depend mostly on how Hamilton feels on a day-to-day basis. But there's little doubt that the Texas Rangers will be happy for the talented player to return at full strength as soon as possible.
This season Hamilton is batting .280 with 19 home runs. | | | | Team Information | | Record overall | 58-62, .483 PCT | | Position in Division | 4th, 19.0 GB | | Record at home | 35-26, .574 PCT | | Record on the road | 23-36, .390 PCT | | Record in X-inning games | 4-6, .400 PCT | | Record in one-run games | 17-15, .531 PCT | | Record versus LHP | 10-23, .303 PCT | | Record versus RHP | 48-39, .552 PCT | | Record last 10 games | 4-6, .400 PCT | | Record in April | 8-14, .364 PCT | | Record in May | 16-13, .552 PCT | | Record in June | 12-14, .462 PCT | | Record in July | 14-11, .560 PCT | | Record in August | 8-10, .444 PCT |
