| Breaking News | | Friday, June 20th, 2008: 350 Victories for Padres Pitcher His goal at twenty was to win twenty games one year, pitch until he was thirty, win the league pennant and to make some money. Well, Greg Maddux did something even better -- the 42-year-old San Diego Padres star has now won 350 games in his career. That put him in a very select group of pitchers in the .
He joined that exclusive club today at Petco Park by whipping the Anaheim Angels 7-2, holding them to 5 hits in 8.1 innings while chalking up 3 strikeouts and no walks.
In the postgame interview, the modest Maddux said, "It's special to win 350 games. You don't do it by yourself. You do it with good stuff and a good bullpen. You are only as good as the guys behind you. Years from now I might look back on it and give myself a little pat on the back."
Maddux has chalked up a lifetime ERA of 3.12 with 350 victories and 221 defeats. He has totaled 3304 career strikeouts in 4905.2 innings while holding opponents to a .247 batting average. | | Thursday, May 1st, 2008: San Diego Starter Named NL's Best Pitcher Last month's cream of the crop on the mound was Chris Young of the San Diego Padres.
