| Breaking News | | Saturday, August 2nd, 2008: McCutchen 5-5 for Pittsburgh 5 times is a charm -- at least in the world of baseball. When a player gets 5 or more hits in a game, he is honored in the record book and the latest honoree is Andrew McCutchen of the Pittsburgh Pirates.
He tore up the San Francisco Giants to the tune of 5 hits in 5 at-bats in the Pittsburgh 7-0 win today at PNC Park.
"McCutchen was a tough out today," the San Francisco manager said to the press in the postgame interview. "He hit some very good pitches with that quick bat of his. Not an easy out, that's for sure."
A. McCutchen singled in the 1st, hit an RBI single in the 2nd, singled in the 4th, tripled in the 6th and singled in the 8th.
This season McCutchen is hitting .242 with 38 hits, no home runs, 15 RBIs, scored 26 runs and played in 76 games. | | Friday, August 1st, 2008: Reliever Capps July's Pitcher of the Month The best pitcher in the National League this month was Pittsburgh Pirates reliever Matt Capps.
