| Breaking News | | Monday, August 18th, 2008: Philadelphia's Rollins Injured The Philadelphia Phillies will lose the services of shortstop Jimmy Rollins after he sustained a damaged meniscus while colliding with a player at a base in today's game against the New York (N) Mets. When asked about the injury, he took a philosophical approach. "Worse things can happen in life," Rollins said. "The key now is to stay positive." His trainer said he is expected to be sidelined for the next 4 weeks.
Currently Rollins is batting .289 with 145 hits and 20 home runs. He has knocked in 83 runs and scored 76 times. | | Friday, July 18th, 2008: Phillies Colon Blanks Giants A masterful pitching performance carried the Philadelphia Phillies to a 8-0 victory over San Francisco. Bartolo Colon held them scoreless in a complete game effort. He permitted 6 hits, had 8 strikeouts and allowed no walks.
The skipper of the Giants said, "Colon was sharp. We never did figure him out."
This season Colon has registered 11 wins and 3 losses in 18 starts with a 3.98 ERA. | | Wednesday, June 18th, 2008: Hamels Holds Mets Scoreless The New York (N) Mets met their match today in Philadelphia hurler Cole Hamels. He kept them guessing the whole game and spun a 5-hit shutout.
"He just worked us over," the New York (N) skipper said. "He probably didn't even take a shower after the game. I don't think he even worked up a sweat. They could probably pitch him again tomorrow."
In the 4-0 victory Hamels whiffed 8 and gave up 1 walk.
Hamels has started 14 times this year, pitched 87 innings, fanned 91 batters and walked 17. His current record is 7 wins and 1 loss with a 3.62 ERA. | | | Injuries | | Player | Injury | Out for... | Disabled List Status | | SS Jimmy Rollins | damaged meniscus (knee) | 4 weeks | Not on DL | | CF So Taguchi | strained Achilles tendon | 6 days | Not on DL | | | Team Information | | Record overall | 60-59, .504 PCT | | Position in Division | 3rd, 7.0 GB | | Record at home | 31-33, .484 PCT | | Record on the road | 29-26, .527 PCT | | Record in X-inning games | 8-6, .571 PCT | | Record in one-run games | 14-17, .452 PCT | | Record versus LHP | 13-7, .650 PCT | | Record versus RHP | 47-52, .475 PCT | | Record last 10 games | 6-4, .600 PCT | | Record in April | 13-8, .619 PCT | | Record in May | 15-13, .536 PCT | | Record in June | 14-13, .519 PCT | | Record in July | 9-16, .360 PCT | | Record in August | 9-9, .500 PCT |
