Tuesday, July 1st, 2008: Atlanta Starter Named NL's Top Pitcher
Tim Hudson had an outstanding June -- so good that the National League presented him with the Pitcher of the Month Award earlier today.

"There's no way to know where the Braves would be without Hudson," one fan is quoted as saying.

In June Hudson dominated the competition, running up a 5-0 record, a 1.30 ERA and 27 strikeouts in 34.2 innings.

This season to date Hudson has a record of 13 wins and 1 loss with a 2.97 ERA, has appeared in 15 games and struck out 81 in 103 innings.
Monday, June 30th, 2008: Diaz Selected Top Player
Matt Diaz went on a week-long hitting streak against National League pitchers and captured the Player of the Week honors.

The Atlanta left fielder battered the opposition for 11 hits, 3 home runs, 6 RBIs and scored 4 runs. He hit .524 and posted a .565 on-base percentage.

In 74 games this season Diaz is batting .316 with 91 hits and 10 home runs. He has scored 37 runs and driven in 43.
Sunday, June 22nd, 2008: 5-5 Day for Diaz
Matt Diaz really sizzled at the plate today. In a game played at Turner Field, the Atlanta left fielder blistered the Boston Red Sox for 5 hits in 5 at-bats to pace his club to a 6-4 victory.

"Diaz was too tough to get out today," the Red Sox skipper said in his postgame interview. "No matter what we threw him, he hit it. And he hit some good pitches, too."

M. Diaz singled in the 2nd, hit a two-run home run off J. Beckett in the 4th, doubled in the 6th, singled in the 8th and hit a two-run home run off H. Okajima in the 10th.

This year Diaz is batting .313 with 9 home runs. He has scored 34 runs and driven in 40.
