Saturday, August 16th, 2008: New York (A)'s Jeter Gets 2500th Hit
It was a banner day for Derek Jeter, who collected his 2500th hit in the New York (A) 6-5 win over Anaheim. Jeter went 1-5 in the game as both Yankees and Angels fans cheered Jeter, when he reached base after his historic hit.

"It feels great to get #2500," Jeter said afterward, "especially since we won the game."

Lifetime Jeter has hit .317 with 2500 hits, 201 home runs, 979 RBIs and scored 1451 runs.
Monday, August 4th, 2008: American League Player of the Week Selected
The American League presented its most recent Player of the Week Award to New York (A) Yankees third baseman Alex Rodriguez.

"His numbers speak for themselves," a club publicist said. "He's been really seeing the ball well."

Indeed, Rodriguez has. Last week he went 14 for 24, batted .583 with 7 home runs and 12 RBIs.

To date this year Rodriguez is batting .287 with 29 home runs.
Saturday, August 2nd, 2008: Melky Cabrera Strokes 3 Home Runs!
It wasn't your average day at the ballpark. The fans witnessed Melky Cabrera power his way into the record book with three home runs and propel the New York (A) Yankees to a 12-6 win over the Tampa Bay Rays.

He spoke with reporters after his historic day and told them, "I've always loved hitting in Yankee Stadium II. You can see the ball so well."

For the day he collected 4 hits in 4 at-bats, scored 3 runs and had 3 RBIs.

M. Cabrera hit a solo-shot off A. Sonnanstine in the 3rd, hit a solo-shot off D. Wheeler in the 3rd, hit a solo-shot off G. Balfour in the 5th and singled in the 7th.

Currently Cabrera is batting .315 with 9 home runs and 45 RBIs.
