"It was like I was hitting little league pitching," said Adrian Beltre after his 5-hit performance against the Twins. "No offense meant to Minnesota, but I could see the ball that well. But this wasn't a kid league park, it was Safeco Field!"
The Seattle third baseman had a fantastic day at the plate, knocking out 5 hits in 5 at-bats and pacing his club to a 6-3 victory.
His manager elaborated after the game to the press, saying, "Adrian worked the entire offseason on trying to shorten his swing and stay inside the ball and the hard work is paying off in base hits."
"That's what I'm trying to do," Beltre said. "Be quick to the ball and let it travel a little farther so I get a better look at it."
A. Beltre singled in the 2nd, doubled in the 4th, singled in the 6th, singled in the 8th and singled in the 9th.
Presently Beltre is batting .296 with 2 home runs and 18 RBIs. He has played in 52 games and scored 23 times. | | | | Team Information | | Record overall | 50-68, .424 PCT | | Position in Division | 4th, 17.0 GB | | Record at home | 27-32, .458 PCT | | Record on the road | 23-36, .390 PCT | | Record in X-inning games | 3-4, .429 PCT | | Record in one-run games | 13-22, .371 PCT | | Record versus LHP | 16-23, .410 PCT | | Record versus RHP | 34-45, .430 PCT | | Record last 10 games | 6-4, .600 PCT | | Record in April | 11-9, .550 PCT | | Record in May | 8-20, .286 PCT | | Record in June | 12-15, .444 PCT | | Record in July | 11-14, .440 PCT | | Record in August | 8-10, .444 PCT |
