Tuesday, August 12th, 2008: Detroit's Peavy in Shutout Victory
In an impressive mound performance, Jake Peavy of the Detroit Tigers checked the Minnesota Twins on a 4-hitter and held them scoreless.

"He was getting ahead of us and keeping the ball off the plate," according to the Minnesota manager.

"Peavy kept us confused the whole game."

The Detroit hurler rang up 8 strikeouts and issued 1 walk in his 4-0 shutout victory.

Up to now Peavy has compiled an ERA of 4.86 with a 10-3 mark over 18 starts. He has 136 strikeouts in 126 innings and has held opponents to a .264 batting average.
Friday, July 18th, 2008: Slowey Holds Indians Scoreless
"Sometimes I was smart . . . and sometimes just a little lucky." That's how Kevin Slowey of the Minnesota Twins described his shutout victory over the Cleveland Indians. Slowey blanked them 7-0 on 6 hits while striking out 6 and walking 0.

On his stats sheet this season Slowey shows a 7-6 record, 19 starts, 122.2 innings, 86 strikeouts and a 5.06 ERA.
Sunday, June 1st, 2008: Beltre On Fire! 5-5 for Seattle!
"It was like I was hitting little league pitching," said Adrian Beltre after his 5-hit performance against the Twins. "No offense meant to Minnesota, but I could see the ball that well. But this wasn't a kid league park, it was Safeco Field!"

The Seattle third baseman had a fantastic day at the plate, knocking out 5 hits in 5 at-bats and pacing his club to a 6-3 victory.

His manager elaborated after the game to the press, saying, "Adrian worked the entire offseason on trying to shorten his swing and stay inside the ball and the hard work is paying off in base hits."

"That's what I'm trying to do," Beltre said. "Be quick to the ball and let it travel a little farther so I get a better look at it."

A. Beltre singled in the 2nd, doubled in the 4th, singled in the 6th, singled in the 8th and singled in the 9th.

Presently Beltre is batting .296 with 2 home runs and 18 RBIs. He has played in 52 games and scored 23 times.
