Monday, August 18th, 2008: Martin Pounds NL Pitchers This Week
One of the league's most exciting young players, Russell Martin of the Los Angeles (N) Dodgers earned himself National League Player of the Week honors with a standout performance in last week's games.

For the week the 25-year-old catcher had a lofty .500 average (15-30), collecting 1 home run, 3 RBIs and 7 runs scored.

To date this year Martin is batting .299 with 9 home runs.
Monday, August 11th, 2008: Loney NL's Best of the Week
It was a fantastic week for Los Angeles (N) first baseman James Loney and it was capped off today with the announcement that he was named the winner of the National League Player of the Week Award.

Last week Loney hammered the ball at a torrid .500 pace, going 12-24 with 3 home runs, 7 RBIs and 5 runs scored.

Thus far this season Loney has hit .366 with 19 home runs, 84 RBIs and scored 74 times.
Sunday, July 20th, 2008: Beimel Out 2-3 Weeks with Injury
Medical officials from the Los Angeles (N) Dodgers reported that the club's 31-year-old reliever, Joe Beimel, suffered a strained tricep muscle in yesterday's matchup against the St. Louis Cardinals while throwing a pitch. Beimel is expected to miss 2-3 weeks of action.

His record this year is 4-and-1 with no saves and a 2.34 ERA. Beimel has given up 40 hits in 57.2 innings with 33 strikeouts.
