| Breaking News | _White_Sox.jpg) | Tuesday, August 5th, 2008: White Sox Shut Out Royals, Danks Winner In an impressive outing, John Danks whitewashed the Kansas City Royals 10-0.
"I'm getting a lot more downward movement instead of side to side. That side-to-side stuff can get hit a long way," said Danks, who is throwing with more of an overhand motion.
"It's not rocket science. It was just a little adjustment, but that's all it took."
The Chicago (A) hurler held Kansas City scoreless, allowed 2 hits, chalked up 5 strikeouts and yielded 2 walks.
This season Danks has worked 125.1 innings with 96 strikeouts en route to a 6-6 record and a 5.67 ERA. | | Monday, August 4th, 2008: Grudzielanek Gets Number 2000! It was a great day for Mark Grudzielanek of the Kansas City Royals -- but not a perfect day. He became the latest player to reach the 2000-hit mark, but his team lost the game. The 38-year-old second baseman got his historic hit in Kansas City's 9-4 loss to Chicago (A).
"It was a very special game for me, but not a good one for the team," said Grudzielanek after the game. Commenting on his achievement to reporters, he told them, "2000 hits are a lot. It puts you in a very select group. You have to hit well over a lot of seasons to do this. It's a good feeling to have your name in the record books with the other guys who have reached this level."
He finished the day with 3 hits in 5 at-bats.
A check of his lifetime stats shows Grudzielanek has a career .289 average with 2002 hits, 387 doubles, 38 triples, 88 home runs and 641 RBIs. To date he has scored 936 runs, walked 354 times and stolen 131 bases. | | Monday, May 5th, 2008: AL Presents Player of the Week Trophy It was a sweet day for Eric Hinske of the Kansas City Royals, who found out he has been named the American League Player of the Week.
