Wednesday, August 6th, 2008: Illness KO's Ramirez of Florida
Florida shortstop Hanley Ramirez hasn't been feeling well lately and now has been diagnosed with strep throat. He's expected to be out for 1-2 weeks.

Presently Ramirez is batting .297 with 124 hits and 23 home runs. He has knocked in 79 runs and scored 70 times.
Tuesday, July 22nd, 2008: Marlins Lose Andrew Miller
"I'm frustrated right now," said Florida starting pitcher Andrew Miller. "I can't help this team by sitting on the bench or in the training room." Unfortunately for the Marlins, that's where he will be spending the next 8-9 weeks. Miller suffered a strained back muscle in today's game against Washington while throwing a pitch. "Believe me," he said, "I won't be out a day longer than I have to be."

This year Miller has compiled a 4-8 mark with a 4.69 ERA.
Wednesday, June 18th, 2008: Un-FOUR-getable, McCann Hits for the Cycle
It was a special day for Brian McCann at Turner Field. Not only did Braves beat the Florida Marlins 9-8, but the Atlanta catcher hit for the cycle, too.

The 24-year-old McCann racked up 1 single, 1 double, 1 triple and 1 home run to get his name mentioned in the record book. For the game he was 4-7 with 6 RBI and 1 run scored.

In the words of Florida manager, "He hit everything we threw. There was just no getting him out today."

Speaking to the press after the game, he said, "First pitch fastballs, that's what I was looking for today...I got some good looks."

B. McCann hit a two-run triple in the 1st, hit a two-run single in the 3rd, grounded out in the 5th, struck out in the 7th, struck out in the 8th, doubled in the 10th and hit a two-run home run off J. Miller in the 12th.

For the year McCann is batting .356 with 77 hits and 10 home runs. He has scored 33 times and driven in 45.
