Friday, May 2nd, 2008: Jones Batters New York (N) for 5 Hits
What a day for Chipper Jones of the Atlanta Braves! A 5-hit hitting spree! That doesn't happen everyday! He ripped New York (N) pitching apart at Turner Field and sparked the Braves to a 20-6 victory. He wrote his name in the record books, finishing up his special day 5-5.

"I'm usually a first ball hitter," Jones told SION reporters in the postgame press conference. "I think pitchers think batters are going to let the first one go by. I never do. I've always found that it's better to pull the trigger early in the count. Pitchers get real nasty when they get ahead of you, so I try to avoid that."

C. Jones hit an RBI single in the 1st, hit a two-run home run off O. Perez in the 2nd, hit an RBI double in the 3rd, hit an RBI double in the 4th and hit a solo-shot off D. Sanchez in the 5th.

This year Jones is hitting at a .330 pace with 11 home runs and 27 RBIs. He has played in 23 games and scored 22 times.
